Great work a man after my own heart. I love the thought process behind the article. I happen to know a gentleman who used to be head of product formulation for the largest manufacturer of nutrition product in the US. They did all kinds of private label formulations for numerous other companies. With a few exceptions he said essentially the same thing. Companies would come to him and say we need this product and it needs to cost X amount. Besides that often meaning less than the best ingredients were used, it also meant that not enough potency of certain key ingredients were in the product to be effective.

I think all the big cosmetics companies are quite able to insett petroleum based ingredients and describe them as nartural. It is often said “we are what we eat” we could also say “our skin is what we put on it”.

Asking the companies straight out to list in ordinary names the ingredients which make up their products is a good idea.

Big companies will take short cuts it is up to us all to question what is in the final product and beging to ask “whether this product is safe to eat”. We may have to pay a little more for a quality product but the long term effects leave us looking good for many years which is after all the whole point.

Nice facts, I know all the big companies are quite capable of it, infact if you seek the natural and ingredients which aren’t harmful, they’re there but it’s only upto the companies whether they go with it or cheaper and harmful chemicals which does the same effect but harms your skin a lot.

Your research was great buddy, and yeah we literally eat up any creams we apply so it’s important to know that those creams are not harmful to us.

@ Kerry – you are dead right. I used to work in the Pharmaceutical Industry for a leading company in New Zealand and we did a lot of research into competing products etc – the chemicals that some companies willingly put into their products are staggering. Put it this way. Some of our tests found that many of the chemicals would KILL the common house fly within 3 hours of direct exposure…imagine that on your skin.

You have to be so careful of what you put on your skin. When my kids had teenage acne I tried using products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and could not believe the serious problems these caused. SO much for over the counter solutions. WHen we went down the natural track, their acne problem cleared up without any side effects.
